History...

In 1907 the Northwest Commercial Travellers Association decided to erect a new building dedicated to the commercial
traveler. The Travellers Building created show rooms for the sales people to display their wares and had support for them
by way of office facilities and staff services as well as barber shop and Turkish bath.

There were two large banquet/meeting rooms on the fifth floor (one still has its fireplace and 'Heritage Designation').
Dinners were served in these rooms and food was delivered by 'dumb waiter' from the restaurant in the basement.

In 1996 the building was purchased by Gerald Butler, a career financial planner and President of the Butler Financial Group.
Gerald planned to use the building as a home base for his group of companies and to fulfill a goal of returning something
to the community that had been so good to him. Many of the present tenants provide assistance to those in need of support.
Two additional objectives were to provide residential and recreational locations. While the 'well being' part of the
operation is on-going, its now time to continue with Phase II of the residential aspect; 'Old Market Square Lofts'.
